Let’s boot up that PC! World-wide communication is heavily relied upon in the United States, especially when everything’s so darned spread out! One must keep in contact with those long distance pals across the state line, you know. And sometimes you just have to tweet about that bulbasaur next door stealing petunias again, you know? The world needs to know.
Perhaps the last state in the United States to unabashedly celebrate the Pokemon trainer, Arizona is a haven for tourists and dreaming youngster Joeys alike. Over the last several decades the state has flourished as the mecha for all things traditional. The young flock to it hoping to prepare to the beginning of their Pokemon quest and the old routinely travel back in hopes of revisiting their trainer roots.
Once popular for its exploitation of Pokemon, recent laws have shifted the surface of Nevada into a compliant and peaceful state. This is all an illusion as masterful as any magician in Las Vegas could manage. Nowadays Nevada is a hotbed of illegal activity when it comes to Pokemon, from smuggling to breeding, prostitution to illegal battles. Whatever any devious heart may want, they can find it beneath Nevada’s soil – sometimes almost
One of the few states to go untarnished by the harsh laws implemented over the last few decades, Utah remains traditional and stuck to the old ways. Very few regulations are in place to limit Pokemon and human interaction. In fact, it’s the only state where one can legally have more than six battle Pokemon in possession at a time. The only issue is the major subculture, which encourages trainers to view Pokemon as unintelligent animals.
While Idaho views Pokemon principally as beasts of burden and products of agriculture, their recognition of Pokemon’s abilities and contributions to society transcend that of any state. Because they have always been utilized for work a lively subculture began to evolve. Within Idaho Pokemon are able to be legally employed (albeit through their trainer). Several establishments within Idaho are almost exclusively Pokemon-run, a novelty in many other states but a common practice here.
The first state to ban Pokemon being used within factories and business, Washington has since made it a point to view Pokemon as self-aware. Thus the state no longer justifies the use of Pokemon for human gain, preferring instead to let them live their lives as companion creatures. Nowadays Washington specializes in the research for Pokemon, particularly in ways to improve their life quality with humans. Trainers, while allowed, are readily looked down upon by the locals.
A final frontier in itself, Alaska still requires Pokemon for one of their original purposes: protection. The continent is home to many of the most dangerous Pokemon in America, resulting in a very complex – and hazardous - interaction between human and wild. In this state Pokemon are appreciated for the safety they guarantee, fully embraced and celebrated by the populace within. They are particularly appreciated by local scientists who still uncover daily discoveries beneath the ice and sea.
Perchance the most liberal when it comes to Pokemon, ten years ago Oregon banned keeping Pokemon within Pokeballs to encourage their fair treatment. Since then the state has developed oddly, offering a lifestyle with many quirks. While Pokemon have their many freedoms the state often finds it hard to control them as a whole. The Pokemon themselves have seemed to have taken their freedoms further, as if they are aware of the legal protections set in place just for them.
Sunny California is home to the most well-pampered Pokemon in the United States. Treated more like dolls than individual beings, the Pokemon of California still find themselves well taken care of. The state has greatly encouraged contests in place of battling, finding the showing off of Pokemon easier to stomach than duking it out. As the preference for aesthetic arose over power, so did the regulations come into place that set the state apart. Pokemon abuse here is treated akin to murder.
After becoming the 50th state, Hawaii was quickly made the home of the Elite 4 of the entire nation by the United States government. Seen as a regal way to end the Pokemon journey the state became the biggest tourist attraction in the union. As the years passed the locals grew tired of the amount tourists – seeing as how the local Pokemon populations plummeted from the increase of ‘catching them all’, it’s easy to understand why. Residents have many freedoms with their Pokemon, but travelers will find themselves very limited.
Not all threads can fit into the confines of the states listed above. To better open up aspects of the world, this forum has been provided. Within characters can visit other states than the ones provided above, other countries of the world, or skip through time altogether.
Hey there random viewer from another roleplay. Jump on in here and let us know about your site and we’ll skittle on into your own and post our ad up as well, as advertising traditionally goes with these sorts of things. Feel free to apply to affiliate as well!
Ah, the long departed threads of Holographic. They were once beautiful, these posts. They had lives, purpose. Then… they were archived. Lost to the depths of this meager graveyard. Oh dastardly fate. What cruelty is this short, textual life. Try not to get the Lavender Town music stuck in your head as you click in.
