You would think that raising a family in a beautiful coastal city of Greece would be any parent's dream, but it just wasn't so for Dimitrius and Athena Argyros. The colorful culture, intriguing architecture, and cerulean ocean waves were not enough for the couple to turn a blind eye to Greece's laws concerning pokemon. The antiquated political stances and sometimes even barbaric treatments of the companions had the couple searching for another country to call home. The birth of Alkippe Dimitria Argyros was simply the crossroads in their decision; they turned their sights to America, hoping for a fresh start for themselves and an opportunity for their daughter to forge her own path.

Five years later, the Argyros' Visa applications were approved. At the age of six, Alkippe and her parents boarded an international flight to Seattle, Washington. Their lives were anything but glamorous for quite some time. In exchange for free housing and meager salaries, Dimitrius became a ranch hand while Athena became the ranch owner's house maid. Despite their minimal savings, Alkippe's parents made sure to immerse her in any and every aspect of the American culture that they could. The only memories Alkippe would have of her homeland would be brief imagery of Parga and the surrounding landscapes, and the beautiful Grecian language that her father adamantly insisted she learn. The first sign that Alkippe was assimilating was her staunch refusal to answer to anything but Kip; she argued that her name was embarrassing and that it only further cemented the fact that she was not born in the United States. After many failed attempts to sway their daughter, Dimitrius and Athena gave in to her request. After all, she had to have gotten her stubbornness somewhere, and it most certainly wasn't from her gentle-hearted mother.

It was around the age of fourteen - almost eight years later - that life started turning around for Dimitrius, Athena, and Kip. They finally received their social security numbers, becoming full-blooded citizens of the United States. Only a few months later, the ranch owner approached Dimitrius with a proposition; he wanted to expand his brand by creating affiliates, and he wanted Dimitrius to be his first business partner. The Argyros family moved to Meridian, Idaho, a prime location for a ranch only a few miles out of the bustling capital of Boise. It was on their new land that Kip came across the sawsbuck that would quickly become her best friend and her first pokemon (albeit illegally, as she was still a minor).

The teenage girl gave the sawsbuck the name of Paz. She had learned in her Spanish class that it meant "peace," which is what she felt whenever she was in the sawsbuck's company. Plus, she was infatuated with any language as long as it wasn't Greek! Kip and Paz formed an inseparable bond; unable to bring him along on her adventures for fear of him being torn away from her, she would run into the woods behind their log house every day after school. Homework, books, and many fictitious quests were completed in the pokemon's presence. At the age of sixteen, Paz would assist Kip in her newfound duties as an officially employed ranch hand for her father, helping her herd the assortment of pokemon by brandishing his antlers and generally looking all too stern and intimidating.

Kip was most excited about her eighteenth birthday, when the government was sure to give her a legendary pokemon, or at least a flying pokemon or fire pokemon. It was to her dismay that her gift from the government was a fletchling. The small bird pokemon was an incredibly chirpy little thing that constantly perched upon Paz's antlers, and garnered a muttered "enochlitikós" from Dimitrius whenever he was nearby; the word was quite apt, for it meant "annoying" in Greek. Eventually Kip's heart thawed to the happy pokemon, and he earned the name Tikós despite Kip's continual grudge against using her native language. With Paz and Tikós in tow, Kip left home to attend the University of Idaho five hours away in Moscow.
